What is Image to SVG?
Image to SVG is a free, browser-based tool that converts photos and drawings into clean vector graphics. Upload a JPG, PNG, WEBP, or HEIC image and get back an editable SVG file, a DXF file for laser engravers and CNC machines, or a simple grayscale preview — whichever fits your project.
How it works
- Upload an image by dragging it in or choosing a file.
- Pick a processing mode — Vector Outline, AI Background Removal, or Grayscale Preview — and adjust threshold, edge smoothness, threshold blending, line style, or color mode to fine-tune the result.
- Download the free PNG preview instantly, or unlock the SVG and DXF files for $0.99.
Features
- Adjustable threshold and edge smoothness for precise control over the traced outline
- Threshold blending to stabilize noisy or ambiguous edges
- AI-powered background removal for photos
- True multi-color vectorization, not just black & white
- DXF export, ready for laser engravers, CNC routers, and vinyl cutters
- No account, no sign-up, and no watermark
Frequently asked questions
Is Image to SVG free to use?
Processing an image and previewing the result is free, with no account or subscription required. Downloading the SVG and DXF vector files costs a one-time $0.99 per image.
What file types can I upload?
JPG, PNG, WEBP, and HEIC images are all supported.
What do I get back?
A free PNG preview of the processed image right away, and for $0.99, the underlying SVG vector file and a DXF file.
Do you keep a copy of my images?
No. Uploaded images and the free PNG preview are deleted from the server immediately after each request. If you purchase the SVG/DXF files, those are held on the server for up to 30 minutes to allow the download, then deleted — see the Privacy Policy for details.
What is a DXF file used for?
DXF is a standard vector format read by laser engravers, CNC routers, and vinyl cutters — one of the most common reasons people use this tool is to prepare artwork for that kind of machine.
